SCOM 2012 Data Access Service SPN Not Registered

If you’re using a Domain User account (which is best practice) for your Data Access Service account you may receive the following error when opening up the console.

“Data Access Service SPN Not Registered”

“Alert Description: The System Center Operations Manager SDK service failed to register an SPN.”

This is because by default Domain User accounts don’t have the ability to update their own SPNs.

To set your SPN correctly use the following commands with a user who has Domain Admin privileges:-

setspn –A MSOMSdkSvc/SERVERNAME DOMAIN\USERNAME

setspn –A MSOMSdkSvc/SERVERNAME.fqdn.name DOMAIN\USERNAME

If you wish to check that SPN registration has been set up correctly use:-

setspn -L DOMAIN\USERNAME
