SCOM Dynamic Group Population

Recently created a dynamic group which was required to populate with servers with hostnames in CAPITAL letters and hostnames in lowercase letters as dynamic groups are CASE SENSITIVE

Initially I tried:-

( Object is Health Service Watcher AND ( Health Service Name Matches regular expression PRODHOST* ) AND ( Health Service Name Matches regular expression prodhost* ) )

This didn’t work 😦

So I then tried the following which worked

( Object is Windows Server AND ( NetBIOS Computer Name Matches wildcard *PRODHOST*|*prodhost* ) AND True )

You can check the members of your dynamic group in powershell using:-

Get-SCOMGroup -DisplayName “MY GROUP NAME” | Get-SCOMClassInstance | sort DisplayName |FT DisplayName
