Translate GUID

Sometimes SCOM alerts will spew out a GUID and you will want to translate this into a legible name. This can easily be achieved using the short powershell script shown below which allows you to paste the GUID directly into the OpsMgr shell.

NOTE:-Script must be run in the Operations Manager Shell

*Copy and paste the following into notepad and save as GUID.ps1 (or any name of your choice)

#Takes GUID from SCOM and tranlates to its display name.
#Run from OpsMgr Shell

$gUIDtrans = Read-Host “Enter the GUID you would Like Translated: ”

Get-SCOMClassInstance -id: $gUIDtrans | ft DisplayName

#EOF
